May 31, 2008: OCB Circle City Championships
My original game plan for this season was to compete in the ABA's Mid-Western USA; however, the contest was cancelled. The promoter stated the reason was a conflict with some construction going on at the venue.
Thus, I switched my goal. I decided to compete in the 1st annual OCB Circle City Championships. The promoter for this show is Jesse Dale (fellow competitive natural bodybuilder). The venue for the show was Lutheran High School on the south side of Indianapolis.
Since this competition was held by the OCB, my pro status is not valid. Thus, I was not able to compete in a pro division.
I competed in the Men's Open Tall Class. There were seven bodybuilders in my category. I was awarded first place. Next, I had to fight for the overall trophy or "best of show". It was so much fun posing with the other two division winners. Ultimately, I did not emerge the victor. The overall award was earned by Brad Warner. He was a deserving winner. As a side note, Brad earned his PNBA pro status at last year Mid-Western USA. Feel free to view the actual score sheet. I am at the very end (highlighted).

June 9, 2007: Professional Bodybuilding Debut
I made my professional bodybuilding debut on June 9, 2007 at the United Laser Clinics' Mid Western USA Bodybuilding Championships. My first competition as an amateur was in June of 1990. So, it's been a 17 year journey to this point: Pro-Natural-Bodybuilder! We the news is in and I am now officially a PRO! So, here's what I won:
- Pro Status (Pro Card)

- $200 Check for 2nd Place

- A very cool PNBA Jacket

- Wall mount Plaque

Competing not only takes a lot of discipline and hard work, but it also takes its fair share of money. The cost of special food, supplements, entry fees, and drug-tests really can add up quickly. Well, the Lord has taken care of me again. I landed two sponsors. Maximum Fitness Supplements and Shocker Nutrition has become my sponsors for this and possibly other competitions. I would really appreciate it if you could patron these two businesses.
Maximum Fitness Supplements will be opening its doors in the very near future here in Greenwood. Craig Gentry is the owner and the person that approached me about sponsorship. He is a great guy and considering a natural competition himself. Plus, he has asked me to help him with the store's web site, which can be found at www.maximumfitnesssupplements.com
Shocker Nutrition is a supplement line out of California. I am currently using Shocker's ThermoLean, Kre-Alkalyn, Glutamine AKG, and Lean Protein MRP to prepare for my competition. If you would like to visit their web site at www.shockernutrition.com
The photos before are to show the transformation that occurred during the dieting process. The image on the far left was taken on April 10 (203lbs) and the far right June 9 (191 lbs).

I have been competing as a natural bodybuilder since 1990.
Most of my competitions have been held here in Indiana, but I have
competed in Illinois. My latest competition was the Mr. Mid Western
USA Bodybuilding Championships on June 17, 2006. I won the Men's Open
Tall class and the Men's Open Overall (like best of show). The overall
victory earned me a "Natural Pro Card".
Training
I have been training for almost 20 years. In those years, I have done all
types of training: high volume, low volume, power lifting, etc. Each
of these types of training have their own strengths and weaknesses.
I used a high volume approach for my last competition preparation.
I will be using a lower volume routine this summer and fall.
Diet
Diet is more important than training. I believe my success has been based
on that simple statement. I focus on my diet more than anything else
when preparing for a competition, which has been very successful for
me. Pre-contest, I utilize a low-carb/high-protein diet.
